Frequently Asked Questions

Every MEC charger has gone through a series of validations and tests before delivering to the clients. We are confident with the quality of battery chargers labelled MEC. You can always go to Documents to locate the detailed instruction manual or technical data sheet for tips to set up the device. In case of doubtful scenarios encountered, please feel free to contact us or get insight from the following FAQs:

The time required to fully complete a charge cycle varies with a couple of factors, including the power output of the battery charger and the capacity, age or condition of the battery pack. General speaking, follow the C/5 rule to select the best fit charger for the battery pack, i.e., Capacity (of the battery pack in ampere hour) divided by 5 would give you the charger of desirable charging performance while offering the best protection to the battery pack.

It is recommended to recharge the battery if the state-of-charge drops to 40-60%. And you can always connect the charger to the AC and the battery as there is an “Auto-detect” function of which the charger would start fresh the charge cycle after a pre-defined number of days or a set voltage level across the battery terminals (the Maintenance Mode).

The charger can be connected to the battery and the AC most of the time as there is an “Auto-detect” function of which the charger would start fresh the charge cycle after a pre-defined number of days or a set voltage level across the battery terminals (the Maintenance Mode). During the long period of idle storage, we would suggest to re-connect to fresh AC and check the charger and battery regularly.

MEC chargers are designed to work properly even under extreme conditions; from -30OC to +40OC (model dependent), and with shock- / vibration-proof feature. What’s plus, some of our models are waterproof / water-resistant, which are specially designed for marine platforms. And all of our chargers come with extremely quiet self-cooled load- / temperature-controlled mechanism; and for certain models, there is a built-in temperature sensor to help monitor the temperature change within; auto charge-voltage adjustment would be initiated under certain conditions to better sustain the battery life.

We are always happy to help customize for your applications. Should the reset of the configuration be in need, we can send you the customized charge profile with which you can just upload onto the integrated data port to adjust the parameters.
Power conversion efficiency varies among models but generally, MEC labelled chargers maintain over 85%-90% power conversion efficiency. However, the efficiency depreciates over time, say after 2 years of usage; and it could be affected by constantly exposed to extremely harsh conditions.

Deep Discharge Recovery Mode can help you revive a “dead” battery with a recurring series of voltage / current pluses while maintenance mode can be applied during storage; there is an “Auto-detect” function of which the charger would start fresh the charge cycle after a pre-defined number of days or a set voltage level across the battery terminals.

The display panel would indicate the mode of charging (General Mode, Deep Discharge Recovery Mode or Maintenance Mode). You can switch the mode of charging as per need or the charger would just start fresh the charge cycle after a pre-defined number of days or a set voltage level across the battery terminals, the Maintenance Mode.

You can contact your distributor for immediate help. Otherwise, you are always welcome to contact us.

Instead of malfunctioning, usually there are other reasons making the charger appears not working. The easiest way to find out further is first trying with another battery pack, to see if the charger works properly. If unfortunately, not, you can always contact us. We provide 2-year manufacturer warranty of maintenance and repairing for B2B clients.

Sometimes the charger would appear in error mode, but it is not actually a defect. Disconnect for 15 minutes and reconnect the battery pack with fresh AC and try again. If the error mode continues, you are also recommended to try the charger with another battery pack. Most of the cases, it is not the malfunctioning of the charger but the issues with the battery pack causing the error mode.
In prevention of overheat, all of our chargers come with extremely quiet self-cooled load- / temperature-controlled mechanism; and there is a built-in temperature sensor in certain models, which would monitor the temperature change within and initiate the auto charge-voltage adjustment to better sustain the battery life. However, if the temperature LED is flashing, please turn off the charger and leave it calm for 30 minutes. This would probably reset the charger to the normal state.

MEC provides a wide range of output power from 40W to 1500W, you can always contact us for charger recommendation. Since the output power is hardware dependent, it is not possible to alter the output power of the charger at the client’s end.

Our stated power conversion efficiency has already taken into account of various factors that may affect the performance of the charger, including the cable resistance. You can be well assured of the quality of MEC chargers.
The most convenient way is to connect the charger to the fresh AC input. If in desperate need, a generator can also be used to start up the charger.
